The swimming pool at Yeouido Hangang Park offers stunning views of the Hangang River as an outdoor pool. The pool has a capacity of more than 3,500 people and opens during the summer. By the pool, there are several stores offering a variety of snacks and light refreshments. Visitors can enjoy the variety of events and activities that take place in the park and the pool, which is a terrific spot to swim.
We went there on 20th August, and we had so much fun! We arrived around 2 PM (we don't recommend going so late, because you can't find a place so easily), and after trying for around 30 minutes we did find some sunbeds and a parasol.
We had some slushies and tteokbokki from the local vendors and we also brought some food from home. Actually, you can come with food and drink from outside, so you don't have to pay so much for the local ones. The prices are a little bit spicy, the slushy is 6,000 won, the tteokbokki 8,000 won, ramen 3,000 won. They also have chicken and pizza for between 12,000 - 23,000 won.
All the operations are in Korean, so we do recommend going there if you have at least a basic Korean language knowledge or with some Korean friends.
Also is MANDATORY to wear a swimming cap, that you can come with from home, or buy it there (10,000 won). You can't access the pool without one, so be prepared in advance.
You can also come with tubes, or buy one there, but not big boats.
They have some rules, that you should follow, like don't jump in the swimming pool and run around.
The swimming pool also has a locker and a place to change your clothes, outside showers, and toilets. The place is split into two parts, the deeper pool, which is around 1.3 m deep, and the children's pool that's around 0.6m deep. Between the two there is a part where you can stay under a parasol without paying for the sunbed if you don't want to. You can also sit in the grass, or just on the cement part, with no problem.
We do recommend you to try it next year because it is cheap and extremely fun.
From our homes it takes around 15 minutes, so we will totally try it again next year when it opens!
