Who says that Japan is the only place to see sakura?


Enjoying the cherry blossom season, also known as beot-kkot (벗꽃), is perhaps one of our favorite things about spring.


It's understandable why visiting Korea in the spring for seeing the cherry blossoms has to be at the top of many people's travel wish lists.


A sea of cherry blossoms covers the streets, creating a beautiful picture for millions of people who travel to Korea between March and mid-April to take part in cherry blossom-watching events.

5 TOP Places to Enjoy Cherry Blossoms in South Korea:


1. Seoul Yeouido Cherry Blossom Festival

The Yeongdeungpo Yeouido Spring Flower Festival, which features more than 1,880 cherry blossom trees and an abundance of other springtime flowers including azaleas, forsythia, and royal azaleas, is guaranteed to be a stunning sight. Located beside the Han River, this is one of Seoul's most popular locations to see cherry blossoms. Set up a floor mat and spend the day in this location!

In addition to browsing among many lovely Cherry trees, you may fill up at the various food booths scattered around the area. Additionally, be sure to keep an eye out for the distinctive activities and performances. The event takes place in early April each year.

2. Seoul Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival

Seokchon Lake's cherry blossoms in the springtime will definitely steal your heart. Make sure to include the Seokchonhosu Lake Cherry Blossom Festival on your calendar when the cherry blossom trees around the lakeshore reach their peak in early to mid-April. The festival normally takes place in the first two weeks of April, though the dates are still to be announced.

3. Seoul Gyeongbokgung Palace

The Gyeongbokgung Palace, undoubtedly one of Seoul's most famous sights, is a wonderful place to see cherry blossoms. Take in the breathtaking views and exquisite flowers as you stroll through the palace gardens.

You get free entry if you're wearing a traditional hanbok!

During Korea's cherry blossom season, there are a few additional palaces in the surrounding area that are breathtaking. Changgyeonggung Palace, Unhyeongung Palace, and Changdeokgung Palace are a few of these.

4. Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival

There are rare King Cherry Trees in Jeju Island. Witnessing cherry blossoms in person is an incredible experience, as they are an unique and gorgeous species.

The Jeju Cherry Blossom Festival takes place every year at tree-lined locations such as Jangjeon-ri, Aewol-eup, the entrance to Jeju National University, and Jeonnong-ro, Jeju City. Enjoy the breathtaking sight of the short-lived (two to three days) King Cherry blooms, which typically occur in late March.

5. Busan Namcheon-dong Cherry Blossom Road

The area known as Namcheon-dong, or Cherry Blossom Road, is quite amazing! You'll think you've arrived at the entrance to cherry heaven as you drive through Samik Beach town, with cherry trees bordering both sides and arching over the road.

While you're in the area, visit some of the other well-liked neighboring locations, such Gwangalli Beach.

There are many wonderful locations in Seoul to view cherry blossoms and other springtime blooms. That is the spot for you if you don't have time to go or if you would just rather stay in the city.


With good reason, spring is one of the most desirable seasons to visit South Korea. The springtime months of March through May are when the peninsula truly comes alive, and they provide a welcome change of pace from the bitter cold of winter.
