The new "face" of Korean travel is New Jeans. The Honorary ambassador for Korean tourism appointed is the girl group New Jeans.
The girl group New Jeans will represent Korea's travel industry globally as the honorary ambassador for travel in 2024.
On the morning of the 11th, in the Grand Ballroom of the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Seoul, New Jeans accepted an appointment plaque from Yoo In-chon, the Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, and they began functioning as honorary public relations ambassadors for Korean travel.
In order to promote Korean nation in the future, New Jeans will take part in a number of events. Additionally, international promotional ads showcasing New Jeans will be displayed on electronic billboards in twelve places, including Times Square in New York, downtown Paris during the Olympics, and YouTube.
According to Minister Yoo In-chon, roughly 7.65 million visitors have visited Korea to date, despite the fact that they hope to welcome 20 million tourists this year. Comparing this year to last, they have recovered from the epidemic by about 90%, the statement continued, adding that New Jeans is an honorary representative for Korean travel. "We anticipate a significant increase in the number of international visitors during the second half of the year," he stated.
Yoo In-chon also declared at the public relations ambassador appointment event that he would establish a museum and hall of fame so that celebrities, including K-pop singers, may proudly represent our nation.
One out of every three tourists to Korea is a young person, thus New Jeans is focusing its Korean tourism promotion on them.
Member Minji expressed her happiness at being named an ambassador for promoting Korean tourism and said she would gladly take the lead in highlighting Korea's many attractions.
Stars from the Korean Wave, like actor Lee Jung-jae from last year and BTS from 2022, have served as public relations ambassadors.
Specifically, the 'Challenge Korea' video starring Lee Jeong-jae received 540 million views overall. Additionally, the Korea Tourism YouTube channel, which featured the video, became over one million subscribers for the first time among the ITO's official channels.
Being able to be part of such event was a great honor and we welcome and encourage everyone to visit Korea this year!
