The Seoul Metropolitan Government (SMG) has introduced "Seouldal," a moon-shaped gas balloon designed to become a key attraction for nighttime tourism in the city.

The name "Seouldal" combines "Seoul" with the Korean word for moon, "Dal," making it easy for both locals and international visitors to understand its meaning and appreciate the city's beauty during the day and at night.
The SMG, in collaboration with the Seoul Tourism Foundation, hosted the “SEOULDAL Opening Ceremony” at Yeouido Park on July 6, 2024, at 19:00.
A test operation period run from July 6 to August 22, 2024, before Seouldal officially began offering paid rides on August 23, 2024.

Seouldal operates using helium for buoyancy, making it safer than traditional hot air balloons since helium is a non-flammable gas. It is tethered to the ground with cables to ensure stability and prevent it from drifting off course.

Each ride can accommodate up to 30 passengers.
The balloon will undergo routine inspections every Monday and operate from Tuesday to Sunday, between 12:00 and 22:00.
Ticket prices are set at 25,000 won for adults (ages 19-64) and 20,000 won for children and minors (ages 36 months to 18 years).

The Seoul Metropolitan Government has expanded Seouldal’s online reservation system to cater to international tourists.
Previously, online bookings were only available to Korean nationals through domestic platforms such as Naver and KakaoTalk due to the balloon’s dependency on weather conditions. However, with Seouldal gaining international recognition as a major tourist attraction, the city government and the Seoul Tourism Organization have decided to make reservations accessible to foreign visitors as well.
Now, travelers from around the world can conveniently purchase tickets through global online travel agencies like Klook, KKday, and Trip.com. This initiative aims to enhance accessibility for international tourists, allowing them to secure their tickets in advance and experience one of Seoul’s most exciting new attractions without uncertainty.
Previously, visitors had to seek out high observation points to take in panoramic views of Seoul.
Now, Seouldal will offer breathtaking aerial views of the city—both day and night—right above the Han River, providing a unique experience for both local and international tourists.
