STEP 3: Quarantine Protocol

COVID-19 Asymptomatic Expedited Post-entry PCR Testing for Short-Term Visitors (2022.08.10–2022.09.09)

The Central Disease Control Headquarters has announced changes to tighten and speed up the post-entry COVID-19 screening procedure for short-term visitors to Korea in advance of the approaching holiday season and festival events there.

Prior to August 10, 2022, until September 9, 2022, all short-term visitors entering from Incheon, Gimhae, or Jeju international airports were required to take a COVID-19 test at airport testing facilities or at a health clinic close to their accommodation on their first day in Korea (until 23:59 of the next day after arrival). However, the strengthened entry procedure requires all short-term visitors to take a PCR test at the airport testing facility or at a health clinic close to their accommodation

The flight crew will inform passengers of the testing need as soon as they board the aircraft to ensure a smooth changeover. To speed up the process, visitors can schedule their post-entry PCR test through the Q-Code system in advance.

More details

Four locations are available at the Incheon International Airport for airport testing (Terminal 1 East & West Wings, Terminal 2 East & West Wings)

Gimhae International Airport has one center, and Jeju International Airport has one center.

cov19ent.kdca.go.kr is the Q-Code.

After passing through immigration, people who have completed their vaccinations (either in Korea or abroad) and who exhibit no symptoms (such as fever, cough, etc.) during the health screening process or on their health questionnaire are allowed to continue to their destination.

All visitors must submit to a PCR test within one day (before 23:59 the following day) of their arrival in Korea. Visitors who are just passing through can pay for a PCR test at the COVID-19 Testing Center within the Incheon International Airport or at a local clinic. Long-term guests may undergo a PCR test at a public health facility close to their residence or place of lodging.

Travelers must remain at their accommodation or place of residence until test results are available.

Symptomatic

Upon arrival in Korea, visitors who exhibit symptoms of a fever (37.5 °C or above), coughing, breathing problems, and/or other potential COVID-19 symptoms must have a PCR test in the arrivals hall or the quarantine facility (Central Quarantine & Medical Support Center). Depending on the severity, the person will be transported to a hospital or residential treatment facility if the test is positive.

If the test is negative, the person is released from quarantine and is required to undergo a second Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) on Days 6 or 7 following their arrival. Visitors can either use a self-test kit or go to a nearby clinic to perform a RAT.

Visitors who have to undergo a test must use their own vehicle or a quarantine taxi and wait at their residence or accommodation until the results are ready. All visitors must make inquiries at the testing facility and comply with the instructions given.

STEP 4: Submit Test Results

All visitors must take a PCR test within 1 day of their arrival in Korea (before 23:59 the next day) and submit the results.

Visit the Q-Code website "Registration of Post-Entry Inspection" should be chosen. Select "Inquiry" and enter your passport number, birthdate, and date of admission. Date of test submission and test results uploaded.

You can upload screenshots of the text message with the test results, together with the sender's name, the test facility's name, and the results of the PCR test.

Travelers can submit test results in person at a nearby public medical clinic if they have trouble doing so online. Hotline for the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency: +82-1339

Regardless of Q-Code pre-entry registration, all travelers must report post-entry test results on Q-Code as of July 14, 2022.
