공동인증서(구 공인인증서) is a certificate and it means a digital signature that serves as a signature or seal which belongs to a specific person only.
It has electronic information that confirms and proves it. The certificate contains information such as the subscriber's digital signature verification key, serial number, owner's name, and expiration date.
Therefore, the certificate is not only used to confirm the identity of the transaction party, but also to prevent forgery or falsification of documents, and to prevent denial of transaction facts. Functions and guarantees secure transactions.
An online identification verification must be implemented:
ID and password or account number and password of a subscriber of an electronic financial transaction service (bank)
Social security number of a subscriber of an electronic financial transaction service (id card number)
One time password (including passcode on security card) that financial companies provide to subscribers for electronic financial transactions or two or more information only the subscriber has access to (the security card with numbers from the bank)
To get the certificate:
Visit the bank
or
If you have internet banking go on the app
search for (금융) 인증 센터
press 인증서 발급하기
press 동의 (in case the bank asks you to agree with the terms and conditions) and 다음
if the details don't appear on their own, then press 전체 동의
the details should appear now on the screen (such as full name, id card number, phone number - mandatory a Korean phone number registered on your name and at the bank)
press 인증요청 (sometimes if the name doesn't appear correctly you need to check with the clerk at the bank)
after receiving the number in the phone messages, input it and press 확인
this is how you make a certificate using your phone
BE AWARE!
When making it using your phone the certificate is stored in your phone only, but you can transfer it to the computer, by copying the folder, or by using a special program like Any Sign.
First, download the program on your computer (XecureCertShare) for most bank transactions or certificates, you need to install some security programs.
There are two ways to send the certificate between devices.
PC to Mobile (here)
Select the certificate to move from PC to mobile device.
Run the AnySign app on the mobile device where you want to store the certificate and touch the Import Certificate menu.
Check the verification code displayed on the mobile screen.
Enter the verification code displayed on the mobile screen.
Enter the certificate password to be used on the mobile device and click OK.
Mobile to PC (here)
Run the Anysign app on the mobile device where the certificate to be moved to the PC is stored, and touch the certificate export menu.
Touch the 'Export' button of the certificate to be exported from the mobile device.
Enter the password for the certificate to be exported from the mobile device.
Check the verification code displayed on the mobile screen.
Enter the verification code displayed on the mobile screen.
Select a location to save on your PC and click OK.
Touch 'Export certificate from a mobile device' to start exporting the certificate to a PC.
To use it
Just select the certificate from your computer or phone or USB when the above image is shown, enter the password and you are good to go.
You can also try other services, besides the bank, that can help you get the certificate. Some of them have an English version.
Types of services that help you to get the certificate:
Any bank, but Woori (if you use this bank) has it on their website.
This certificate is used pretty often in Korea so make sure you have it up to date and running. Check with the bank clerk if you think it is too complicated to do it by yourself. Remember the password you used and don't give it to anyone.
